Bodega Santa Catarina

The revival of a winery We have to go back to the 20th century when Stellan Lundqvist discovered Mallorca for the first time and fell in love with the island. In the early 1980s he founded Santa Catarina, anchored in the Serra de Tramuntana (Andratx).

During the eighties and nineties, their wines were prestigiously positioned on the local market with a highly personalized project and mainly the cultivation of noble French grape varieties. Due to various circumstances, Santa Catarina had to cease its production activity in 2002 and lease all of its vineyards and small winery to third parties.

After years without making their own wines, Stellan Lundqvist’s adult children made the decision in 2014 to revive the project that their father had consolidated when they were still young and to take over the management and administration of the winery.

For that, the difficult decision was made to clear and replant the entire vineyard area of Son Aloy in Sencelles due to the poor condition and deterioration of the vines, as well as their low level of production.

In addition, it was decided to start the construction project of a new winery on the Son Aloy property, aesthetically integrated in the existing natural environment and equipped with the latest technology and innovative machines. The old Son Aloy house was also rehabilitated and now serves as a reception area for visitors who are interested in the world and culture of wine. It is our wish to share this space with others.

In 2020 our first wine production was started with two different ranges: Mallorcan, monovarietal wines made with local varieties and Mediterranean wines, an assemblage of autochthonous and foreign grape varieties, mainly Syrah, that have adapted to the soil conditions of the island and are grown throughout the Mediterranean area.
