MEDITERRANEAN WINE TOURISM

WINE DAYS 2021. PURE SATISFACTION! MEDITERRANEAN WINE TOURISM

Mediterranean wine tourism, Wine Days, experiences, where wine, culture, wellbeing, gastronomy, landscape… have been the protagonists of the Binissalem Designation of Origin.
Wine Days 2021, our pure satisfaction and that of our collaborators, for the successful participation in the programmed activities; and the satisfaction of the participants, for the expressions of gratitude they have given us on completing the different experiences of the Wine Days programme, now in its eighth edition. EXPERIENTIAL ACTIVITIES

The doubts and uncertainty during the planning of Wine Days 2021 led us to programme experiential activities, in small groups and in open spaces. The public’s response was immediate and we soon began to put up the ‘full house’ sign, which, given the circumstances, has been a success of this edition and has filled us with satisfaction.

SUCCESSFUL PARTICIPATION

More than 400 persons have participated in Wine Days 2021 with a wide variety of profiles, ages, and nationalities. Although this year’s participants were mainly locals, we also had people of other nationalities, both visitors and residents of Majorca, who enjoyed the wine tourism activities of Wine Days 2021.

  • MINDFULNESS & WINE SESSIONS: TASTING WITH THE FIVE SENSES

Hand in hand with Essència Pilates. Mindfulness was a new experience within the Wine Days programme, which led us to relax and become aware of the present and through ‘Winefulness’ to taste wine by increasing the perception of our five senses: sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch.
The four chosen spaces undoubtedly favoured the objective of the experience, relaxation and self-awareness. The attendees were pleasantly surprised and grateful for this special and relaxing tasting session.
Another of our objectives is to show vineyards and wineries and places unknown to many of the attendees.

A BRUNCH WITH A PRUNING WORKSHOP IN THE VINEYARD OF VINS NADAL GAVE US…

A wonderful and exquisite staging by the winery Vins Nadal and Mallorca Amenity, who organised a picnic with local products and wines from the winery, taking care of every detail of the event.
An experience with a Mediterranean character, in which the attendees enjoyed the Saturday morning with family or friends, learning about the work of caring for the vines in springtime and tasting products from our islands, paired with the wines of the winery.

LUNCHTIMES OF RICE DISHES AND WINE IN BODEGAS JOSÉ L. FERRER

An experience in which gastronomy, always accompanied by the wines of the Binissalem Designation of Origin, took on a special role thanks to the Chef ‘maestro arrocero‘, Kike Martí, who on Saturday the 15th and Saturday the 22nd delighted the attendees with two very special rice dishes: ‘Arroz de Sopes Mallorquines’ (rice dish of Majorcan soup); ‘Arroz de vieras, conejo y mantonegro dulce’ (rice dish of scallops, rabbit and sweet black mantonegro grapes ) and ‘Arroz de bacalao, secreto y Sobrasada de Mallorca de cerdo negro’ (rice with cod, Iberian porc and Majorcan Sobrassada of black pork).
In the ‘Es Cos’ space next to the vineyard of the José L. Ferrer winery, where the white, rosé, red, sparkling and sweet wines of the winery accompanied the rice dishes, and put the icing on the cake of this wonderful food and wine experience.

THE EXCURSION IN SANTA EUGÈNIA AND BBQ IN VINYA TAUJANA

It was guided by Joan Crespí from Celler Vinya Taujana with a tour through Santa Eugènia and the surrounding area, and ended with a meal on the terrace of the winery, located at the entrance to the village, accompanied by the winery’s wines.
Discovering the landscape and the villages that make up the Binissalem Designation of Origin, Santa Maria del Camí, Consell, Binissalem, Santa Eugènia and Sencelles, is another of the attractions of wine tourism in the region. Villages in the interior of the island of Majorca with unique heritage and landscape values.

A NORDIC WALKING ROUTE THAT…

Began in Plaça Nova in front of Celler Jaume de Puntiró. A route along paths and through the vineyards of Santa Maria del Camí, one of the Municipalities of the Binissalem Designation of Origin. The 9 km route was attended by participants of all ages, locals and foreigners, lovers of hiking and wine, who were presented with a white wine from Celler Jaume de Puntiró at the end of the route.
The walk, already a classic in the Wine Days programme, was well attended by members of the Federación Balear de Muntanya i Escalada (Balearic Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing), a partner in this activity, who enjoyed a wonderful spring afternoon.

THE 4 MICRO-THEATRE PLAYS PERFORMED ON DIFFERENT STAGES PUT ON A…

The cultural note to the 8th edition of Wine Days. The company Myotragus Theatre moved us and also made us laugh with four plays related to the vineyard and wine, which were performed on different stages of the DO Binissalem.

VARIOUS WORKSHOPS WITH WINE TASTING…

… were held at the Vins Nadal winery.
An introductory session on wine tasting with an aroma workshop introduced attendees to the practice of wine tasting and the characteristics of DO Binissalem wines, made from the local varieties Mantonegro, Moll… among others.
Some of Majorca’s traditional crafts, such as the ‘llatra’, a technique for making baskets and hats, also played a leading role in Wine Days 2021 thanks to Mallorca Amenity, which specialises in organising experiences that will take you into the heart of our islands.

SPRINGTIME IN THE GARDEN OF THE CASA MUSEUM LLORENÇ VILLALONGA

Organised by Fundació Mallorca Literària filled the garden of the House Museum with culture. Storytelling for the little ones, literary presentations and music, an excellent cultural pairing for the DO Binissalem wine, which was offered to the adults.

CHEESES AND WINES AT THE FINCA BINIAGUAL

A special place in the old farmhouse of Biniagual. An estate, historically dedicated to the cultivation of olive trees, vines, citrus fruits… among other agricultural work, and which gives its name to the Bodega Biniagual.
A village fully recovered from the ruins, converted into an idyllic place where wine is produced, and an efficient and environmentally friendly agricultural and livestock activity is maintained.
Some of the Wine Days 2021 activities have taken place in Biniagual: Mindfulness & Wine, micro-theatre and a wine and cheese tasting marriage. Mediterranean Wine Tourism.

A successful edition in terms of content and participation that we hope to repeat at Wine Days 2022.
